South Wales Family Portraits; Cosmeston Lakes near Cardiff

I just had to share with you these gorgeous South Wales family portraits taken recently at the beautiful Cosmeston Lakes near Cardiff. We were blessed with a slightly cooler day than we have been having lately and some cloud cover which as a photographer is helpful as it means we avoided squinty eyes and harsh shadows. I love Cosmeston Lakes as a South Wales family portraits location in every season as the colours are always changing and it is particularly fun with the little ones as we take some time to explore around the lake and feed the ducks, swans and geese.

I especially love shooting along the boardwalk and love the natural walking shots as families enjoy their time together. For me, the best photographs are always the ones where you have forgotten I am there and are just being yourselves. With this kind of family portrait I aim to tell a story and capture a moment in time. Babies and kids grow up so fast, it is important to capture special moments like these so you will always have the memory to look back on. I love the summer colours in this shoot and really enjoyed spending time with this sweet family. A big part of my job is connecting with people and ensuring that you feel at ease in front of the camera, I love getting to meet all kinds of different people and it is a privilege for me to get a chance to tell your family story. Sophia was a photographer’s dream as she was so smiley and happy that made my job easy! I particularly love her expression when watching the ducks!
