Family Portraits Bristol; Ashton Court
The Basil Family at Ashton Court, Bristol
This lovely family portrait was taken at Ashton Court, which is one of my favourite places to shoot in Bristol. We picked a gorgeous Autumn day, sandwiched right between two cold, wet and windy days! Kate mentioned she really likes natural photographs, not posed, which was great as that is my favourite kind of photographs to take. We went for a wander around the lovely grounds at Ashton Court and enjoyed the landscape and the sunshine.
The kids did a great job and were still smiling by the end of our session. Especially with small children it is best to let them play and explore and do what they do rather than trying to force them to sit still or pose. I like to take photographs that capture a mood and conjure up memories of the feeling on that day. Children grow and change so fast, it is often only when you look back that you realise how much they have grown and changed. I really like this set as I feel they tell a story and capture a moment in time with this sweet family.
I love the Autumn colours in these images and especially the ivy on the stairs provides a wonderful splash of colour. I also really like the portraits of the kids sitting in the nooks of the beautiful grand Ashton Court mansion house. The sunshine was very bright at points and I enjoyed playing about with the strong contrasts and shadows.
Here is a selection of my favourite images, you can click on any image to view it larger. There is still time to book Autumn family portrait sessions and sessions start from Β£50 for a one hour shoot. There is also an option to buy all of the images on a wood engraved USB stick so that you can keep all the hi-res images. All the information can be found here
