Restronguet Barton Marquee Wedding
I’m delighted to be able to share this Cornwall marquee wedding photography from Rachel & Joe’s gorgeous late summer wedding. The Peninsula of Restronguet, situated on the gentle waters of the Fal Estuary is a well kept secret. Restronguet Passage is a coastal hamlet,Β close to Falmouth and has been Joe’s Grandad’s home for many years. Joe spent many happy summers coming to visit his Grandad in this gorgeous part of the world. Many of Joe’s family have got married here over the years so it was a natural choice for Rachel & Joe.
Bridal prep in Falmouth
Rachel booked a beautiful place to get ready in Falmouth with her closest friends and family. The views were stunning along the Penryn river and there were some lovely tender moments giving her best friends special gifts and an emotional first look moment with Dad. Rachel’s Mum sadly passed away the year before. Rachel chose to keep her Mum close and had a piece of her Mum’s blue wedding dress sewn into own dress near her heart. She also wore some of her Mum’s special jewellery to honour her.
Groom prep in Restronguet
Rachel & Joe added second shooter coverage so that we could also cover the guys getting ready in Restronguet. The lads even had time for a quick pint at The Pandora InnΒ a favourite place to have a drink when staying in the area.Β
Wedding ceremony at St Mylor church
With veiws out across the river it’s easy to see why they chose to get married here. This church has been the site of many of Joe’s family weddings over the years, so it has a special place in their hearts.
Natural cornwall wedding photography
While the guests were heading back to the marquee for the receptionΒ we took the chance to head back to Restronguet for Joe & Rachel to have a quiet moment together. This place means a great deal to their family and so it was important to get some photos here. We even got the family boat out on the water for some shots! I loved Rachel’s elegant Jesus Peiro wedding dress. It suited her perefctly, I loved the bow detail at the front and it even had pockets!
Restronguet Barton wedding photography
Restronguet BartonΒ was our next stop to join the guests at the marquee. Rachel and her bridesmaids had spent a long time designing the decor and had a clear vision for the marquee. It was stunning to see this come to life and the views over the Restronguet passage were truly stunning. It was a lovely warm afternoon and the guests were all relaxed and enjoying drinks and canapΓ©s admiring the views.
Cornwall Marquee wedding reception
Rachel & Joe didn’t want too many group photographs as they mostly wanted natural candid coverage of their day. I am always happy to do group shots but suggest no more than 6 – 8 different groups and preparing a list beforehand makes these go much smoother! These can be as serious or fun as you like, but it’s a good way of ensuring you get those special people together.
Rachel & Joe’s speeches were just the right mix of heartfelt and funny. There were tears and laughter and some very special moments. After some delicious food it was time for everyone to let lose with some dancing! The band did a great job of getting everyone moving. I always like to stay for long enough to catch some epic dance shots! It was really special to see the full moon rising over the water and I just knew we had to get some magical night shots. Sparkler shots are always a winner too – just make sure to get the extra long ones and let your photographer organise everyone to make the most of the moment.
Thanks to Rachel & Joe for trusting me to be their Cornwall wedding photographer. I loved this wedding and wish you both every happiness for the future π
