Family portraits in Roath Park Lake, Cardiff

I had such fun with brothers George & Tom at Roath Park Lake on Saturday. We were very fortunate with the weather, managing to avoid the rain showers. Roath Park Lake has so many beautiful spots, it is one of my favourite places in Cardiff, so I was delighted when Nia suggested we do the shoot there. George started off a little shy, but soon warmed up as I enlisted his help blowing raspberries on his little brother to get him to smile. We took a walk along the promenade and said hi to the swans and ducks before ending up in the beautiful Rose Garden.

With young children, I find it is best to go with the flow and see what is naturally happening and how they play and interact with each other. My favourite shots are often the candid ones where the children have forgotten I am there and are just enjoying themselves. I loved the natural shots we got of these two brothers exploring and playing and I hope these will be images that are fondly looked back on. Roath Park Lake is a lovely place to do family photographs especially with young children as there is so much to see.
