Bristol wedding photography; Liz & Derek
St Augustines Church & The Grange Hotel Bristol
My most recent wedding took me back to one of my home cities, Bristol. Wedding photography takes me all over the country to all kinds of beautiful and varied locations, but it was nice photographing back in a place I know so well. I loved being part of Derek & Liz’s special wedding day. May is a lovely time of year to have a wedding as the weather is often kind, and I love all the new green shoots & beautiful spring flowers everywhere. We also shot Derek & Liz’s engagement shoot in May, one year ago (view their engagement shoot here).
Their daughter Emily & neice Isabelle made beautiful flower girls & Liz looked gorgeous in her wedding gown. Her beautiful flowers were by Rosina May in Mangostfield. It was a special moment to see Liz & her Dad walking down the aisle and one of my favourite shots is from the top of the aisle as Derek waits to see his beautiful bride. After a traditional catholic ceremony at the church we took some family photographs before heading to The Grange Hotel for some delicious canapes & refreshments.
The Grange Hotel is set amongst 18 acres of beautiful landscaped gardens & the building itself is an attractive 19th century bath stone manor house. It was an idyllic backdrop for some bride & groom shots as we strolled around the grounds and the flowers girls played on the grass. The wedding breakfast was a delicious 3 course meal in a beautifully decorated intimate venue. The speeches were short and sweet, especially the best man’s. He got lots of laughs with his short & to the point toast.
After the meal there was time for the guests to relax and explore, so I took the opportunity to have another wander around the grounds with the bride & groom. The late afternoon sun was really lovely at that time of day and it gave the bride and groom a chance to catch up with themselves and enjoy being a married couple. The venue then turned the room around to prepare for the evening party. The evening guests started to arrive and were greeted by a Ferris Wheel full of Krispy Kreme donuts for them to enjoy by the friendly people at Boodelicious
I hope you enjoy this selection of photographs from this Bristol wedding and they give you a flavour of the day. The full day’s photographs are online in the Client Gallery on my website. You will need to ask the bride & groom for the password to access these. There is an online ordering system if any guests want to order professional prints. You can click on any image below to see it larger and in a slideshow.
Wishing Derek, Liz & Emily all the best for the future. Thank you for letting me be part of your special day. Best x
