At home engagement portrait shoot

Jenny & Chris’ snuggly at home engagement portrait shoot

Wedding Photography Giveaway winners

Remember my wedding photography Christmas giveaway? Loads of you entered and three finalists were chosen, these three were put to the public vote and after a nail-biting week of voting Jenny & Chris won the giveaway. Here’s a chance to get to know the winners more. The engagement portrait shoot is a chance for us to get to know each other better before your big day and for me to see how you interact as a couple and what kind of shots are going to best represent you.

After throwing around a few ideas for engagement shoots Jenny explained that her and Chris are really snuggly, stay at home and build Lego and play video games type of people. Lego plays a big role in this couple’s story and it was a mutual love of all things Lego (and Star Wars) that eventually led to them getting together. The theme for their wedding will be largely Lego and Star Wars and so I knew the shoot should involve these elements. We decided to go for a lifestyle home engagement shoot and go for really natural shots of the two of them at home relaxing in the place they love most in the world and enjoying spending time together.

I love how cosy and happy they look wrapped in the blankets Jenny crocheted herself and drinking coffee from their matching Star Wars mugs. They showed me some of their Lego creations and they were pretty impressive, proudly displayed on high shelves (not to be played with!) I loved hearing the story about how they had spent 13 hours building the Lego house together and it was during this time they realised they were meant to be more than just friends. I also loved their Lego caricatures and knew they had to have a place in these engagement portraits.

I normally shoot a lot of outdoor engagement portraits but I really enjoyed doing something different and capturing something so personal and unique to this special couple. I was really pleased with how they turned out and I think you can get a stong sense of who they are as a couple. Please enjoy my highlights from this sweet home engagement portrait shoot and please get in touch if you are looking for a wedding photographer, I’d love to talk with you 🙂
