MEET ME

HANNAH

One of the South West’s leading wedding and family portrait photographers, finalist three years in a row for “Creative Photographer of the Year” at the WWA & the last two years at SWWA. Qualified with a BA Hons degree in photography and almost two decades experience photographing all over the UK and internationally, you can be assured you are in safe hands.

I am a friendly and calming presence that will fit right in with you and your crew. I love traveling, meeting new people and capturing special moments in a beautiful and timeless way. I come from an art background and work in my own unique documentary style, always seeking to capture who you are and the connection between you.

I am well practiced at helping the most camera shy people feel relaxed. My favourite kind of weddings are full of personality, colour, life and fun, ideally outdoors on a beach or some other open green space and my favourite family portraits are messy, real, fun and natural.

Where it all started

THE ORIGIN STORY

As long as I can remember, I have wanted to go on adventures. Whether that was climbing trees, exploring the neighbourhood on my bike, or imagining I was in a far off land. I grew up in East London / Essex but from an early age I always wanted to travel and sought out the new and unknown. My Christian faith has played a big part throughout my life and allowed me to travel around the world and enlarge my worldview. I have always loved documenting these adventures, and often remember moments in photographs.

The MOMENT that changed everything

A CHOICE TO MAKE

I always loved painting and drawing at school and whilst studying art foundation at Camberwell College of Arts I realised it was really photography that was my real passion. I studied it for degree in Brighton and soon friends started asking me to photograph their weddings. I shot my first one in 2004 on my trusty Canon film SLR and realised this was something I was good at.

After getting married in 2005 I worked in a portrait studio and quickly became the manager. I learnt a lot and started to build my business on the weekends. When the company suddenly went bust in 2006 I had a choice to make. Get another job, or bet on myself and go full time. I chose the latter and my business quickly began to grow – I haven’t looked back since!

Fast forward to THE present day

CORNWALL & DEVON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

I am grateful that I have been able to work for myself for almost two decades now. I have lived all over the South West, working for many years in Bristol before moving to Taiwan for 3 years (yes I can speak some Mandarin!) Photography has been flexible as I worked around having my 3 kids. I have always taken photography with me throughout every move and continued to shoot weddings every place I have lived. Most recently we lived in South Wales before moving to sunny Cornwall in 2020. We love living in Cornwall and find the Cornish lifestyle suits us!

I still LOVE what I do. I love being part of these special moments in people’s lives and never take that for granted. Many things have changed about the industry in that time, but the most important things stay the same. This job is mostly about people. It’s about making a connection, getting to know you and tell your story in a beautiful way you will treasure for ever. I never tire of that and I hope I never will.

I’m always striving to be the best I can be and offer the best service for my clients so watch this space as I continue to develop and offer more for my clients. Thank you to the many hundreds (thousands?) of people that have let me into their precious, personal moments and allowed me to capture it with my lens.
