2024 Round-Up: A Year in the Life of a Cornwall Wedding Photographer

As we bid farewell to 2024, I can’t help but reflect on the incredible year it’s been. This season has been a whirlwind of love stories, stunning venues, and unforgettable moments. From windswept clifftops to cosy barns, I’ve had the privilege of documenting 29 weddings and capturing 39 portrait sessions across Cornwall and beyond. This year there has been many dogs, lots of beaches, much laughter, some rain and a whole lot of love.Β

I was also delighted to be a finalist for the 3rd year running in the South West Wedding Awards and be named one of the three best rated photographers in Cornwall for the 2nd year running.Β

It’s always so hard to narrow down my favourite images but here’s a little peek into some of the magical venues I’ve visited this year:

St Ives Harbour Hotel

Nestled along the picturesque St Ives coastline, this luxury hotel offers breathtaking views over the bay. With its elegant interiors and the sound of waves crashing in the background, it’s a dream location for any seaside wedding. This was one of my first weddings this year and a great way to start the season. I always love weddings in St Ives – the colour of that water and sand, you just can’t beat it!

Polurrian on the Lizard

Perched atop the rugged cliffs of the Lizard Peninsula, Polurrian combines vintage charm with contemporary style. The coastal backdrop is simply unparalleled, and the team there always goes above and beyond. I’m often here several times a year and it’s always a highlight to photograph here.Β

Trevenna Barns

Trevenna Barns is one of my favourite local wedding venues, a rustic yet luxurious venue nestled in the Cornish countryside. Its rolling hills and charming stone barns provide the perfect backdrop for romantic celebrations. This wedding featured a stunning outdooor ceremony, and when the rain came in later in the day we made good use of it. See more from this wedding here

Steeped in history and mystery, Pengersick Castle is perfect for couples looking for a venue with character. Its medieval architecture and lush gardens provide endless photography opportunities. DIY Marquee Weddings

There’s something so special about a DIY marquee wedding. Whether it’s set in a family garden or a local field, these celebrations are always filled with personal touches. One standout this year was a marquee wedding on her parent’s land, complete with homemade decor, tractor rides and a big pan parties feast.

For dramatic clifftop views, the Land’s End Hotel is hard to beat. It’s a stunning location for couples who love the rugged beauty of Cornwall.
